Hi....I was rereading this comic because I'm writing a fanfic.
Its a Mother 1 crossover, with Scootaloo and other characters from the show replacing characters in the game. Among certain other changes...
...anyway, since Scoots is a pegasus, a pony hooves are kind of sproingy/sticky/whatever, there is not as much stopping her from wrapping her hooves around a bat and fluttering momentarily in the air to deliver a SMAAAAAASH!
But, I was having some trouble picturing her fighting with the bat in her mouth. The primary pony weapon fighting method. Somehow, I couldn't help but wonder about the bat losing momentum or being awkward to swing.
So, I went to Fallout Equestria wiki, looked up weapons, and found that a SLEDGEHAMMER was used in this chapter and I read your comic a while ago...and...well...
Long story short: Thank you so much for making the raider on page 28 look SO lethal holding that hammer like that.
Now that I think about it, clubs with a head, like a hammer or mace, have all the kinetic energy of the swing collected in one place, which is why they are so powerful. The bat, baton, billy club, quarterstaff, and other blunt force weapons generally trade raw power for a wider striking surface...
But, come to think on it, Scoots isn't going for lethality. Just making crazed animals "tame" or possessed objects "stop moving".
The primary reason for fighting with the mouth is to keep moving. Longer weapons and those made for quick swipes that don't require throwing all your weight into them are probably idea for ponies. Bats could be surprisingly effective hit-and-run or tripping weapons. Especially for a small wielder like Scootaloo who needs some reach advantage, anyway...
Its kind of cool, she has to fly and use her hooves to "SMAAAAASH!" when she think she has a clear hit, but that's like she has a Fire Emblem Critical hit animation!

the embarassing thing is, that's not even as bad as I usually do.
